About Dudu Garcia

Born in 1966 . Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro Studied Industrial Design at PUC – RJ, Painting, Art History, Philosophy, and The Creative Process.
Eduardo has taken part in various exhibitions in museums and galleries in Brazil and abroad, among them are the Museum of Modern Art in Rio and Museums of Modern Art of Bahia (Salvador, Bahia), The Cultural Center of the Post Office (Centro Cultural dos Correios), Passo Imperial, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Niteroi.

In Brazil present in important galleries, such as Nara Roesler Gallery Luiza Strina in São Paulo. Abroad has had his work exposed in France (Galerie Debret, Paris), England (Gallery 32, London), Belgium (Tendler Gallery, Bruxels), USA (Violet Ray, New York) and Japan (Motoazabu Gallery – Roppongi Hills, Tokyo).

He has his works in the permanent collection of the mentioned institutions, and in various private collections in Brazil, such as " BGA – Brazil Golden Art " and abroad as in Rosario & Paulo Pimenta Collection – Portugal. Eduardo has had numerous texts critiquing his work, by authors such as Marcus Lontra, Reinaldo Roels, Silvia Meira, Marcos Campos, Jacqueline Vojta and Simon Lane.

He works in series, comparable to an industrial process, and always presents his work in dialogue with the exhibition space (site-specific). His work can be related to several artistic movements such as Arte Povera , Concrete Art and Abstract Expressionism.

He works upon displacement unnoticed urban landscapes into an area of analysis and action time as a partner in his painting, which uses organic materials, stone dust dirt, oil, rubber and slime as their ink, on flax, hemp and cotton canvases.
